		<description>Today, I was in a meeting with a person who I am teaming with to present a workshop using both of our expertise combined in a new way. During the meeting I shared with her several resources from my field that I thought would be helpful to her. As we were parting, she said she thought she should take my Course!</description>

		<description>Providing a summary of upcoming deadlines  will capture some of my colleagues attention. Some may be away, have other important engagements or assume it is the responsibility of another. A follow up phone call is a great way to find out where they were at with the work and whether there is anything I can do to assist. It is necessary to be very proactive with capturing their attention, in order to achieve the outcome.</description>

		<description>In science, I guess my "customers" are anyone who is a potential future collaborator. I talk to at least one person most days about the work I do, the science I'm interested in and in return they tell me what they do and are interested in, what they're trying to achieve, etc. It's kind of like advertising - eventually I discover someone who needs what I can do and often they have something I need.</description>

		<description>I don't deal with customers directly very often and when I do it is frequently via email which is very impersonal and very easy for the recipient to ignore and therefore impossible to gain their “attention”. If possible I prefer to use the phone and engage with them on a more personal level.</description>

		<description>I don't deal with 'customers' on a daily basis but when I do I try to give them a little more than they had bargained for at no extra cost (or if you choose to turn that around, promise less than I intend delivering so it is always easy to please!).</description>

		<description>While I am not in Sales, I did try to capture my customer's attention by showing enthusiasm and passion for a topic they have genuine concerns with and are passionate about themselves.

Not yet sure how it went as the customer has apparently been raising this issue for years with no support previously shown by superiors or my department.</description>
